“ The Local is a great place to go for amazing food and eccentric atmosphere. The service here was fast and the food was tasty! Definitely a good place to hang out with friends and grab a drink :) ”

“ The vibe here alone would have been enough to draw us in, but the floral ambiance of the outdoor patio, the lighting, and the perfect summer evening weather made The Local our first dining choice for our weekend visit to Victoria! We found it randomly on our nighttime stroll through Bastion Square, although we ended up looping around the block to get a feel for the area before setting in. Despite it seeming to be completely full, we were seated immediately on an outdoor patio table away from the street, and our incredibly friendly and welcoming server Danika taking care of us for the rest of the stay. We ordered the Cowboy Steak Tacos, the Spicy Vegetarian Rockstar, and a London Pimm's between us, and were treated to a slowly-encroaching lightning storm in the distance, while we waited, which wasn't long! The Cowboy Steak Tacos were probably my favorite meal of the entire trip: peppery, spicy and lean, with a delicious savory sauce and pickled onions. Even my wife's tofu salad dish, something not usually to my liking, had a thick glaze of spicy sauce that gave it a more solid, inviting texture, and when coupled with the array of fresh veggies, really came together to create a dish even I would order. And my London Pimm's, despite being a gin drink which, again, not something I usually order, was light, crisp and refreshing, and something I'd like to have more often. I should try to get the recipe. I didn't see much of the interior, but I liked what I saw: looks like the kind of party bar, like the Dixie, that I tend to frequent back in Portland, although nicer: multi-hued neon lighting, loud music, attractive women, multiple levels. But the outside patio is really where it's at: I didn't see a restaurant with outdoor seating anywhere in downtown Victoria that could hold a candle to the charm of The Local, and it will always stand out in my mind as one of the city's premier outdoor dining option: a fantastic location at the base of the Bastion Square steps, and boasting an unparalleled ambiance. This is the sort of place I am going to want to return to again and again, whenever the weather (and the wallet) allows! ”

“ We were lucky to be seated in a section where Meya was the server. Seated immediately. The obvious draw to this establishment is the flower abundant outdoor seating area. But, for those of you “sports enthusiasts”, the have every sport imaginable on TVs inside the bar!! I got to see my Tampa Bay Rays play baseball live 3,000 miles away! Thank you! I ordered the Notorious P I G, my wife the massive Quesadilla! No disappointment here! Maya made it special with her Australian accent, and the drink glasses were never empty. Great place, when in Victoria, give it a chance. Prices are fair for what you get! ”

“ We went to this place to try their poutine. We originally tasted poutine in Montreal & have never found one as good... well this is the place to eat it, the fries we cooked crispy (till they soak in the gravy), the cheese was great & instead of everything being on top of the fries, it was layered in. It was delicious. We also ordered a turkey wrap to split - it was also very good. Plenty of food for us (we didn’t even eat the fries that came with the sandwich). We also each had a beer. The waitress was awesome & we didn’t feel forgotten. I highly recommend this place. ”

“ We've walked past The Local over the years, and the patio is often packed with shiny happy faces. We finally stopped in today for a late lunch on a perfect sunny day. Really friendly staff, delicious cocktails and local beers, and a great lunch. My double smashburger was 10 as today's special -- huge and delicious. Definitely stop in for a great meal or beers and wings. ”

“ Enjoyed an Oilers playoff game while visiting Victoria. Lots of screens and lots of Oilers fans. I was told this is the official bar for watching Oilers games as the owner is a huge fan. It was a fun atmosphere. Had the fish tacos and my son the steak tacos as they were on special that night. Average. The margaritas were tasty, but basic. ”
